As I am not a fan of the snow or the cold, I have spent the last few weeks trying to stay indoors as much as possible, and in turn now feel like a recluse. I coincidentally/subliminally ended up watching Grey Gardens (1975, dir: David Maysles), a documentary following the lives of Edith Beale and her daughter, also called Edith, and the decline of their sanity. I found the whole thing strangely mesmerising but also somewhat disturbing. However, I also felt like I could relate to a certain extent, what with attempting to hibernate during winter and thus becoming a hermit. Nonetheless, little Edie used to be the most beautiful woman who wore the most beautiful clothes before she went crazy.
